T hese informative and interactive one-day workshops help participants understand the fundamentals of dual language education. The workshops explore the research base and key components of dual language programming and instruction through the lens of the widely used Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education. Participants use that knowledge to evaluate starting or enhancing a dual language program on their campuses. We offer these workshops periodically around the country. C AL and Santillana USA offer an interactive, self-paced online course designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to dual language education with a focus on the Three Pillars of Dual Language Education used by successful programs. • This online course provides participants with definitions of dual language education and outlines the fundamental components and goals of dual language programming and instruction. • This course links program features to the Three Pillars of Dual Language Education and defines dual language education with examples from CAL and Santillana USA resources, with recommended reading from noted experts in the field. • Each module begins with a warm-up activity and includes a narrated PowerPoint presentation and readings. Throughout the course, participants have opportunities to reflect upon and practice new learning, self-assess through quizzes, view real-world examples through video demonstration, and apply lessons learned through applicable wrap-up activities.
