What a Tree Has Seen

When the Yamacraw Indians built villages, the live
oak trees were there. The men built houses. The women
gathered fruits and vegetables. They used the live oak
trees in a special way. They would bend over some
of the very young trees. These trees would grow in an
interesting way. These became trail markers.
