■■
In this section, students will practice and extend
their writing skills, and apply the vocabulary and
grammar they have learned in this unit. The writing
objective for this unit is to create a character
sketch. Students will follow a step-by-step guide
consisting of four steps:
Piensa
. Students will plan and develop their
writing project, taking into account the type of
text, their purpose for writing, and the audience.
Escribe
. Students will write their first draft,
striving to create an engaging and appropriate
text, and following writing conventions.
Revisa
. Students will evaluate their text. They
will look at it critically to see if they have fulfilled
their goals.
Comparte
. Students will write the final draft,
incorporating the necessary corrections and
paying attention to the design and appearance
of the text. They will then share their writing.

■■
Ask students to take a look back at all of the
characters introduced in this unit and list them.
Preparation
■■
Explain to students that they will work on a writing
project. First, they will be given the topic, the
goal of the text, and an explanation of the type
of text they will write. Then they will be guided
through the writing process, which is divided into
four steps. You may want to share with students
the description of each step as explained in the
Presentation section.
■■
Ask for a volunteer to read the Character Sketch
box aloud. Explain that a character sketch is like
a snapshot that highlights the most distinguishing
characteristics and personality traits of the
character. A good character sketch paints a
picture of the character using words and supports
it with strong and vivid details.

Piensa
experiencias significativas, etc. Crea una red para organizar estos
puntos importantes.

Character sketch
One of the ways that authors, playwriters,
and scriptwriters prepare realistic,
three‑dimensional characters is by creating
a
character sketch
before they write the
final work.
A character sketch introduces a character
through a collection of significant details,
so that the audience gets to know the
person’s appearance, personality, values,
and motivation.
Not as complete as a
biography
, a
character sketch gives a basic idea about
what to expect from the character—and
what
not
to expect.
