About the authors…

Mónica Brown

finds inspiration in

her Peruvian-American heritage and

her desire to share Latino stories with

children. She is a Professor of English at

Northern Arizona University, specializing

in U.S. Latino Literature and Multicultural

Literature. Monica has received multiple

awards such as the Américas Award

in 2004 and 2012, the International

Latino Book Award in 2012, and the

Christopher Award in 2012.

María Isabel Molina

was born in Madrid,

Spain. She won her first literary prize,

Doncel de Cuentos, at the age of 18.

She has specialized in historical and

biographical novels. Her works have

earned other prizes, such as Doncel

de Novela, the AMADE Prize, which is

awarded by UNICEF; the List of Honor

of IBBY, and several CCEI prizes.

Antonio Orlando Rodríguez

was born

in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. He has written

many fiction and poetry books for

children. In addition, he is a journalist,

script writer, and literary researcher,

and he has participated in projects to

promote reading in several countries.

As a part of this effort, he and Sergio

Andricaín created the Cuatrogatos

Foundation, which specializes in

children’s literature.
