La conjugación progresiva
• The progressive tenses are used to express actions viewed as in progress in the past,
in the present, or in the future. To form the progressive tenses, use the appropriate tense
of the verb estar and the present participle (gerundio).
Ahora ella está leyendo, pero no sé qué estaba haciendo cuando la llamé.

El presente continuo
• Use the present progressive to talk about an action that is happening at the moment
of speaking.
estar (in present) 1 present participle Ahora Bill está escuchando música.
El pasado continuo
• Use the imperfect progressive to talk about an ongoing action at some point in the past.
estar (in imperfect) 1 present participle Estaba comiendo cuando me llamaste.
• Use the preterite progressive to talk about an action that was in progress during a definite
time frame and then ended.
estar (in preterite) 1 present participle Ayer estuve leyendo hasta las 9:00 p. m.
El futuro continuo
• Use the future progressive to refer to an action that will be in progress at some point
in the future.
estar (in future) 1 present participle Mañana a esta hora estaré trabajando.
